Our big news is that Arcadia Miniatures will soon have a new home. It's always the way - a perfect opportunity comes up when you least expect it. We hadn't planned to move so soon, or at least not until the major renovation and sale of our current home was complete. But we have found an ideal spot only a few kilometres up the road that will give us sufficient grazing to take Arcadia where we'd like it to go. So we look forward to relocating in early December and welcome visitors over the summer break.
With so much going on in our lives, something has to give and this year we have had to reduce the size of our show team. For now some of our lovely show horses will have to stay at home and wait till later in the season to make their appearance. We are thrilled with the two we have clipped ready for the first shows. Arcadia Overtures Evita (Eva) and Arcadia Overtures We Will Rock You (Rocky) competed successfully last year and will be out again. They are part of the team that won the Region 4 Sire of the Year title for their sire, Bluegables Monarchs Overture. This annual competition is run by Mountain Miniature Horse Society and we have already got our entries in for this season. Here's hoping! It is such a pleasure to take Overture's foals out to represent him. |

Rocky also proved himself a very worthy ambassador for the breed when we travelled to the Miniature Horse Expo in Auckland. He loved all the attention, which was just as well as he spent most of the day being patted by adoring children and adults too. He never got annoyed with all the fuss and was so calm with even the smallest of children giving him a hug. Check the photo of our Arcadia stand - hard to see the horse - and that's what it was like all day. In fact I was surprised David managed to get a photo with only two expo visitors on the stand - for much of the day we were swamped. |

Rocky is also able to announce that he has a full sister. His dam Bluegables Rowdy's Jade Remark produced a sweet black filly (to Overture) on the morning of September 22. Jade likes to have her foals in the day, which is quite a nice change. We are pleased to welcome Arcadia Overtures Shania. She is just the kind of foal we love - long straight legs, nice short body and pretty little head. For now she is enjoying having all the attention but our two other foals are not far away.
Check back in a few weeks for a foal update and the first show results.
