Although the weather is often far from ideal, spring is certainly our favourite season on the farm.  Spring for us means the excitement of seeing results from last year's breeding decisions as the new foals arrive.  So far we are very happy with the choices made.  We have three top quality foals, all quite different.

The first to arrive was Rocky (Arcadia Overture's We Will Rock You). He chose to make his appearance on a sunny Sunday morning at the end of September. New mum, Bluegables Rowdys Jade Remark has taken her job very seriously and is doing well.  Rocky is a chestnut pinto with almost perfectly symmetrical markings plus a cute crescent and snip.  He is friendly and outgoing. T hat along with his stunning looks mean a show career is planned for him.  He is proof of the ongoing success of the Rowdy/Orion cross.  Rocky may be for sale to a top home.

Next to arrive was Dixie (Arcadia Wizards Dixie Chick).  This time it was late at night in a thick fog.  It took five minutes to find Cameo as she had chosen a far off corner of the paddock.  All went well and Tiny Trotters Wizard had his first foal born.  She is a petite but well-proportioned buckskin with blue eyes and a small star. This filly loves people.  She is the first to come running whenever you step into the paddock and tries to hog all the pats and cuddles though Rocky manages to squeeze in for his share.

Finally on the last day of September, Holly chose a fine patch in amongst some really wet weather to deliver a leggy palomino pinto filly.  We have named her Arcadia Overture's Mamma Mia.  Mia has made it through a week of fairly shocking weather - she must think the world is a very watery place.  But now with a little sunshine sneaking through she is enjoying sunning herself along with the other babies..
